Admissions Policy

It is our intention to make our pre-school genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community and surrounding areas.  In order to accomplish this, we will ensure that:

• The existence of the pre-school is widely known in all local communities.  We will place notices advertising the pre-school in places where all sections of the community can see them.

• We arrange our waiting list in birth order, although in special circumstances, to support working families, we may take into account siblings already attending the setting.

• In order to ensure the sustainability of the Pre School and retention of Committee Officers, sibling children of the three current officers, may be admitted out of date of birth order, but remaining within their ‘admission group’, i.e. funded or pre funded.

• Priority will be given to children who receive nursery education funding, ensuring they have been allocated their full entitlement, before places are offered to younger children.

• We will describe the pre-school and its practices in terms which make it clear that it welcomes fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including childminders and people from all cultural, ethnic, religious and social groups, with and without disabilities.

• The gender and ethnic background of children joining the group is monitored to ensure that no accidental discrimination is taking place.

• Our equal opportunities policy is widely known.

• We are flexible about attendance patterns so as to accommodate the needs of individual children and families.

• No admissions will be accepted, other than pre planned, 2 weeks after the start of term, unless at the discretion of the Leader.

• The waiting list for the next term is closed at the ½ term prior, unless at the discretion of the Leader.  The waiting list re opens once the entire current intake has been admitted or when all funding eligible children on the list have been offered places.  Whichever is the sooner.

Our Conditions of entry are: -

• Children must be a minimum of 2 years 6 months of age
• Sight of Original Birth Certificate and copy of same must be submitted.
