Health & Safety
Attendance
Children should be kept away from Pre-School if they are suffering from a stomach upset, and if your child has been sick or had diarrhoea, please keep them off for 48 hours after the last attack. If they have an infectious disease like chicken pox, etc., please inform Pre-School so that other parents can be made aware. It also helps us if we are informed of head lice. All information is treated sensitively and public notification, if necessary, is anonymous. If your child is off sick or not attending for any reason we ask that you phone and advise.
Injuries
Should your child have a visible injury on arrival at Pre-School, an ‘Arrival Injury’ form must be completed and handed to staff. These are available from the Leader upon request.
In the case of minor injuries, the staff may apply hypoallergenic plasters. If you have any objection to this, please make the Play Leader aware.
Healthy Eating Award
Originally awarded in 2004 and regained each year since, this has resulted in the children’s snack becoming healthier, and now consists of varied fruits and vegetables, breads, cheeses, as well as fresh water and milk. As part of our Healthy Eating programme, we also request that children do not bring in sweets or cakes for their birthdays, as this is marked in Pre-School by the staff with our ‘cake’, birthday card and sticker. If you wish to mark the occasion, please feel free to bring in fresh fruit for the day, or discuss the matter with the staff.
Security
The main entrance to the Pre-School is closed shortly after the Pre-School starts. Should you arrive later, then you will need to ring to gain entry. The children are all registered onto and off of the premises.
Fire Precautions
We have fire procedures displayed throughout the building, with which all staff are familiar. A fire drill takes place for the children twice every half term.
Safeguarding
The Pre-School and its staff have a legal duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, as well as having a duty to co-operate with others to improve the health and well being of children. As such, the staff are able to, with your consent, access additional help and support should they feel it necessary, and may approach you confidentially with regard to this. This is in no way intended as a criticism, merely as additional assistance.
The use of personal mobile phones is totally prohibited within the preschool
